3 days. 68 Children. Snapshots of summer at Coney Island.

What would summer be without a bit of heat? A little adventure? A little mischief? Last month, The New York Times for Kids traveled to Coney Island to get all three. Along the beach, in Luna Park’s maze of rides, and on the sandy boardwalk, we met and talked to more than 50 kids to find out what they love most about this quirky yet classic New York destination. For some kids, it was a rollercoaster. For others, it was just hanging out with their friends when school was out. Yet one thing seemed to be true among the kids we encountered: there’s no better place to stay cool.
