5-year-old boy breaks the bank to pay for his grandmother’s treatment and receives a check for $140,000 the next day – Story of the day

A little boy kissed his beloved piggy bank before breaking it to pay for his sick grandmother’s treatment. The next day, he ran to his parents, holding a check for $140,000 in his hand, and moved them to tears when a heartwarming revelation followed.

Chock! Chock! Little Ronnie chuckled as he heard the coins clink in his piggy bank. He sighed, waiting for the day when he would be filled with enough money to buy his Justice League dream toys.

“Mom, you told me you would give me $1 if I threw the trash in the trash can outside,” he told his mother, Linda. “I even cleaned the pots on the steps,” the 5-year-old said, holding out his soiled hands for the money.

But Linda was upset and couldn’t wait for her husband to come back with a taxi. “Ron, you know Grandma isn’t well, right? Please don’t bother Mom now,” she said.

Ronnie was disappointed and headed to his room with his piggy bank under his arms…

“Mom said Grandma would be home in a few days. But it’s been a week, and she’s not home yet,” he muttered.

“Oh my God! $140,000? Who gave you that?” Linda shouted. She and Jacob looked around, thinking it was a prank.

“Here you go…I promise to fill you with more coins soon.” Ronnie kissed his piggy bank and ran outside, only to see his mother in tears.

“…I’ll be there in ten minutes. I’ll bring our son,” Linda said over the phone, looking around for Ronnie.

Before Ronnie could figure out what was going on, he was taken to the hospital to meet his grandmother, Doris. He pressed his nose against the glass and looked at his unconscious grandmother in the intensive care unit.

“When are you coming home, grandma?” he sighed and couldn’t understand why his grandmother had to spend so much time in the hospital.

Doris went into cardiac arrest a week ago. After examining her, the doctors concluded that she would need immediate surgery.

Linda and her husband, Jacob, had spent all of their savings on Doris’ treatment. They did everything to find money and even sold their old car to treat themselves. Unfortunately, they still needed a lot more to pay for the operation, and time was running out.

“Doctor, please give us some time,” cried Linda. “We’ll find the money one way or another within this week.”

Ronnie had never seen his mother so depressed. He heard her pleading with the doctor and immediately recalled her savings in the piggy bank.

“I can’t see mom and dad sad. I’ll save granny’s life,” he thought. “I have money for his treatment.”

After returning home that afternoon, Ronnie ran to his room, then slowed down, tears streaming down his cheeks.

“Charlie,” he called to his piggy bank. “I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to break you now. I love you and I’m going to miss you,” he said, smashing the ceramic, and the coins clinked on the floor.

Ronnie gathered the pieces together, tying them in a small cloth. “Grandma, you’ll be home soon, I promise you,” he said, rushing downstairs to throw away the broken pieces.

That evening, the boy went to the hospital with his parents and again overheard his mother talking to the doctor.

“We’ll do our best, Mrs. Cooper. But time is running out. Your mother’s condition cannot improve without the operation. Please arrange for the money quickly.”

Unable to hold back any longer, Ronnie bursts into the office, much to his parents’ shock.

“Ron, honey? What are you doing here? I told you to sit outside Grandma’s room,” Linda exclaimed.

Ronnie turned a deaf ear and actively rummaged through his backpack. He pulled out the small wad of coins and walked over to the doctor, smiling confidently.

“Here, doctor. Take this money I saved for my Justice League toys to treat my grandma. I heard mom talking to you,” he said. “Will that be enough for Grandma’s operation?”

The doctor was amazed and took the bundle of coins from the boy’s hands. It was even more impressive when he unpacked it and saw how many parts were inside.

“Son, this money is enough! Your grandmother will be coming home soon, I promise you!” the doctor said brushing Ronnie’s hair as Linda and Jacob looked on in disbelief. At first they thought the doctor was joking, but they got a big surprise the next day.

“Mom dad!” they heard Ronnie running towards them. “Look what I have,” he said, showing a signed check for $140,000.

“Oh my God! $140,000? Who gave you that?” Linda shouted. She and Jacob looked around, thinking it was a prank. Soon they witnessed the true power of compassion when the doctor approached them with heartwarming news.

“As I said yesterday, little Ronnie, your grandmother will be home soon!” revealed the doctor. “Mr. and Mrs. Cooper, you don’t have to worry about the money. We’ve got it covered!”

“Supported???” Linda screamed in shock. “B—But doctor, who would give us that much money? We didn’t ask anyone to…”

The doctor smiled and looked at Ronnie. “You should be really proud of your son Mrs Cooper. What he did yesterday touched my heart. So a few of my colleagues and I discussed it and contributed some money for the treatment.

“…And Ronnie, this is for you… Go ahead and open it, son!” insisted the doctor, handing a gift box to the little boy.

Ronnie quickly opened the box and was delighted to find his collection of Justice League dream toys inside. It took Linda and Jacob a while to come back to reality because they weren’t expecting such a twist and unexpected favor from the nice doctor.

“Thank you, doctor. Words are not enough to thank you,” cried Linda, hugging her son.

“Well, your son pushed me to do it! He proved to me that nothing is more important than family. I had planned to take a few days off to visit my elderly mother in town. I should thank your son for helping me realize the true meaning of love and compassion!” he said before rushing to the next room with his stethoscope.
