Nine people have been hospitalized after a press box collapsed at a high school softball field in Indiana.

Six Wayne High School students and three adults were injured on Saturday after a press box collapsed mid-game around 1:30 p.m.

It is unclear what caused the press box floor to collapse, but police believe it had something to do with the ‘faulty floor joist attachment’. DailyMail.com has contacted the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department for comment.

Spectators and players were seated under the press box when the ground collapsed, according to WOWK TV.

Two students – including Addison Perkins – were rushed to hospital. Addison has since been released. We don’t know what condition the other student is in.

Addison’s mother, Brittany Leigh Perkins, said on Facebook that her daughter had “been cleared and had just been released and had to follow up for two days with a concussion clinic.”

“We still have MANY girls and adults there and they all need a lot of prayers,” she wrote.

A freelance photographer, who was at the game, also shared a picture on Facebook showing the uninjured players from the boys’ and girls’ teams waiting in hospital to see if their teammates would be okay.

The firefighters showed their support on Facebook, writing, “Wayne Fire Dept. would like to send our prayers to the Wayne Middle School softball team and members of the Wayne community involved on the ball diamond today.”
