Tina’s husband, Adam, suggested a vacation to a specific location in South Dakota. She had no idea why until he sneaked out one night. She followed him for 20 minutes until they entered a scary cave and what she saw inside was completely unexpected.

“Honestly, I don’t understand why you chose South Dakota. We could go to New York. See a show on Broadway, or even Disney World would be better. But South Dakota? What is it? ?” Tina whined as her husband, Adam, drove and insisted they go somewhere great.

“South Dakota is awesome, baby. My parents used to take me there all the time when I was a kid. There are hotels near a forest, guided cave tours, and tons of other stuff,” Adam said smiling but focusing on the road.

“So? What’s so great about caves? Wait, we don’t stay inside one, do we?” she panicked.

“No, no. I know you wouldn’t like that. But we’re going to see Mount Rushmore and other great things. It’ll be awesome. You’ll see,” he continued, happier than she thought. had never seen. She sighed and decided to make the most of this holiday.

Their Mount Rushmore tour was not bad. She had more fun than expected and bought some nice souvenirs for her parents in a gift shop.

She rushed out of there, careless, and got into the car.

” You see ? You have loved. I knew you would,” Adam said as they relaxed at their hotel.

“You’re right. It was great. Plus, the view from this hotel is amazing. Did you stay here with your parents when you were little?” Tina wondered, looking out the window.

“No. This hotel is newer. I think it used to be an RV spot, but my parents and I didn’t stay there. We just drove through and explored these woods. It was fun . I love caves,” Adam said, absentmindedly unpacking a cute shirt.

“Okay, honey. I’m going to clean up,” Tina said before heading into the bathroom.

A few hours later, she was stuck in her bed and almost asleep. She must have really fallen asleep for a few minutes, but a jostling woke her up. She opened one eye and saw her husband at the foot of the bed, fully dressed.

He was visibly quiet and Tina felt a cold shiver down her spine. But she pretended to be asleep when he turned to her. She heard the door to their hotel room open and close and rushed out of bed.

Where is he going? What is happening?” she wondered – hysterical thoughts raced through her head. She had to follow him. Therefore, Tina looked around and grabbed a t-shirt, sweater, and sweatpants to avoid freezing outside.

Luckily they were downstairs, so she clearly saw how he left the front door of the hotel and headed back towards the woods. Is he mad?

Tina took several steps behind him, trying not to alert him to her presence. But he continued. He was focused on getting somewhere, and Tina needed to know where, even though something in her heart was telling her that ignorance was best.

No, it is better to know the truth. It’s always bettershe pushed her thoughts away and continued on her way.

After walking for nearly 20 minutes, they approached a cave, though Tina would never have known she was there if Adam hadn’t walked straight in. She stopped and got ready outside. It was the scariest moment of his life. Who accidentally enters a cave? What is he doing?

She entered slowly, trying to be discreet, and went further until voices echoed between the walls.

“I can’t believe you’re here!” said a female voice. Who is this person?

“I can’t believe it either. I just took a chance,” Adam replied. “Emily, I…it’s been 15 years, but it feels like yesterday.

“Oh, Adam,” the voice whispered, and their conversation ended. Tina’s heart broke as the unmistakable sounds of kisses and passion echoed through the area. But somehow, she still didn’t believe it. She had to see it with her own eyes, even in that dark and ugly cave.

There was a speck of light. One of them had dropped his phone, lighting up the area, or maybe it was on purpose.

But the scene before her was final. They were kissing, and things were getting even more intense than that.

Tina couldn’t watch anymore. She left and almost ran to the hotel. Luckily she didn’t get lost as the hotel lights were easy to follow despite the time they had traveled to the caves. Back in her room, she grabbed her bag and everything she could find, including the car keys.

She rushed out of there, careless, and got into the car. It was Adam’s car, but she didn’t care. He was cheating on me with a woman in a cave in South Dakota! To hell with him!

So, she drove but soon realized she didn’t know the area well, so she stopped at another hotel, got a room, and did her best to rest. Fortunately, the day had been exhausting, so Tina was tired enough to stop her aching heart and racing brain.

The next day she left and went to a local restaurant for breakfast. She sat down at the counter.

“What do you want to drink?” asked a waitress.

“What do you have?” Tina wondered.

“I don’t know if it’s worse or better… but it’s pretty much the same,” Tina pursed her lips.

“As usual. Coffee, orange juice, soda. I don’t know,” the woman replied, confused.

“Is there anything stronger?

“It’s 9 a.m.,” the woman said, frowning.

“OK, some coffee then. But make it really dark, please,” Tina asked, rubbing her forehead.

“Bad night?” said a male voice beside her, and Tina turned to a friendly, round face smiling slightly at her.

Usually she didn’t talk to a stranger, even if he seemed friendly. But he was right. Last night had been the worst of his life.

“You could say that,” she replied deadpan.

“I bet it was no worse than mine,” he continued.

His eyebrows rose. “Oh, really? How much are you going to bet?”

“Wow, are you so confident? Let me think,” the man paused for a second. “Whoever has the worst story buys breakfast.”

“Deal done,” Tina said as the waitress brought her coffee and sipped the hot, bitter nectar.

“I’ll start then,” the man said. “I’m Jerry, by the way. Last night was my fifth birthday with my girlfriend. We had the time of our lives. That was all it could be. But she woke me up at 4 a.m. this morning, telling me she was leaving for ‘the boy in the cave.'”

Tina almost spat out her coffee. “What?”

“I said so. But she said she’d been waiting for the boy in the cave for 15 years and started packing,” Jerry continued, his eyes echoing his feelings about that memory. “She said it was now or never, and she couldn’t lose him anymore. They were leaving together now. I thought she was having a nervous breakdown.”

“Oh my god,” Tina whispered. ” What happened next ?

“I followed her, and another man was waiting for her in the hall. He was… his nice shirt was almost wrinkled, so I knew something had happened. I just stood there, watch them walk away,” Jerry finished with his mouth hanging open. always open as if reliving the scene.

“Wow,” Tina muttered.

Jerry shook his head, clearing his memory, and smiled at Tina. “So, is your story worse?” Did I win the bet?

“I don’t know if it’s worse or better…but it’s pretty much the same,” Tina said, pursing her lips, and Jerry frowned. A few minutes later, they were both laughing at the absurdity.

They each paid for their breakfast and went their separate ways, but not before exchanging phone numbers. Tina went home, filed for divorce, and waited for the process to end. She hadn’t heard much about the passionate cave lovers, and honestly, she didn’t care.

Jerry has become a texting friend because he lives five hours away. However, Tina applied for a job in her town and moved nearby. A few months later, they started dating and promised to never, ever, ever… go on vacation near caves.
