Billie Eilish’s brother, Finneas O’Connell

All eyes continue to be on Billie Eilish. However, her brother is slowly becoming better known as people learn more about his musical talent and his significant contribution to his sister’s fame.

Recently, singer Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell surprised their audience in Manchester, England.

The singer revealed that they would be debuting a song on stage, but that wasn’t the end of the surprise. They wrote the lyrics to this song explicitly about the trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

Eilish sang her controversial lyrics: “The internet has gone crazy watching movie stars on trial. As they overturn Roe v. Wade.”

These moving lyrics and the inspiring music the siblings create together would be impossible without the musical genius of O’Connells.

Known primarily for producing and collaborating with his sister, O’Connell has also worked with many other famous artists. These big names include Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber.

But, beyond producing for other artists, O’Connell also creates his own music under the name FINNEAS and is the lead singer of “The Slightlys”.

Of course, making music with her superstar sister makes money. But beyond their earnings, the music is rooted in O’Connell and Eilish’s relationship. As Eilish said:

“My whole family is really musical. My brother and my mom both write songs and my dad always played the piano and the ukulele… My brother is a really good songwriter, so we gave each other notes and we were writing things together.”

It’s no wonder the melodies live on in their genes, spilling over into hits like “Ocean Eyes,” which turned then-teen Eillish into an overnight sensation.

O’Connell was the genius behind “Ocean Eyes”. He produced and wrote the song but never wanted it for fame or fortune.

Instead, he did it for his sister’s dance teacher, who wanted to form a choreography to a tune no one had done.

The song began to chart high on SoundCloud, and soon enough the duo were selling out arenas and reaping multiple awards.

Personality-wise, O’Connell is very creative and humble, out of step with his sister’s time in the spotlight. He’s also caring, making music for the people he loves.

These pieces of music include the melody for his sister’s dance teacher to the song “Claudia” for his girlfriend, Claudia Sulewski.

Last September, O’Connell celebrated his third birthday with his girlfriend Sulewski, a 25-year-old actress. Taking to Instagram, he said the years with her were the best of his life.
