New BCCI Selection Committee: India Squad NZ Series: BCCI has set a salary package of Rs 1.25 Cr for the new Chairman…

New BCCI Selection Committee: India Squad NZ Series: The BCCI has fixed a salary package of Rs 1.25 Cr for the new chairman of the selectors and Rs 1 Crore for the other four members. Yet the Indian board failed to attract big names. The only big name to apply is former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad. With more experience in Test, he could become the new president of the selectors. But with no big names in the mix, fired head coach Chetan Sharma is still out of the running and neither is Harvinder Singh. The new selection committee will choose the team for the New Zealand series. Follow India v New Zealand live updates on InsideSport.IN.

The reasons are many. First of all, many believe that Rs 1 Cr is not enough to sacrifice their existing assignments. Selectors will be required to resign from previous jobs with state teams or IPL or commentator positions. But with the salary package, it’s not enough. Therefore, Chetan Sharma and Harvinder Singh are still in the running for a new nomination.

“Chetan has a good chance of being retained as president or at least as a representative of the northern zone if he is ready to work under a new president, whoever he is. The truth is that BCCI doesn’t get big names. It’s not that they haven’t polled anyone. If Chetan had no chance, why would he apply? There must have been assurances given“, PTI quoted a BCCI source.
