Fans call Mickey Rourke ‘jealous’ after criticizing ‘irrelevant’ Tom Cruise for playing the same role for 35 years

For the first time in nearly four decades, Tom Cruise has hit a new high he’s never reached before in his career, with his latest movie currently grossing $1 billion. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy for the star.

Tom Cruise seems to get better with age. The star began his career in the 80s and made his breakthrough with his starring role in the 1983 comedy film “Risky Business.” Three years later, he starred in “Top Gun.”

He has since starred in numerous sci-fi and action films throughout his forty-year career, gaining international acclaim as an action star. He is also widely recognized for his stunts.

From hanging on the side of an airplane, skydiving, or scaling the tallest building in the world, Cruise has done it all. And now, nearly four decades after the release of “Top Gun,” Cruise is back for the sequel, “Top Gun: Maverick,” in which he reprises his notable role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.

The film, released in 2022, quickly gained traction and has already crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office. It’s also the second-highest-grossing film in Paramount’s long history in terms of national figures, second only to 1997’s “Titanic.”

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ marks the actor’s first-ever film to cross the billion-dollar milestone, and while fans are pleased with his action star’s success, not everyone holds him in the same regard. . Fans say actor Mickey Rourke is jealous of the star’s success.

Considering “Top Gun: Maverick” is the most famous movie of the year, it seems strange that someone would call Cruise irrelevant. Such was the case with “The Pledge” actor Mickey Rourke who recently appeared on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” and slammed Cruise:

“[Tom Cruise has] been doing the same effing part for 35 years. I have no respect for that.”

“I don’t care about money or power. I care about… when I watch Al Pacino or Christopher Walken work, or the early work of De Niro and Richard Harris and Ray Winstone, he’s the kind of actor to whom I want to look like. A lot of guys who tried to stretch themselves as actors.” He continued.

Rourke thinks Cruise hasn’t stretched his acting muscles in decades, and even though the film is competing for the top spots with only a select few, such as “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, Rourke does not. thinks Cruise is a good actor. He said of Cruise:

“I think it’s irrelevant.”

MICKEY ROURKE DOESN’T HAVE THE SAME LOOK AS 35 YEARS AGO

Rourke may have been in the acting scenes for years, but you wouldn’t recognize him in his previous films. After botched plastic surgeries to change his face, he now looks completely different than he did many years ago.

No wonder he came hard on Cruise for playing the same role for 35 years. With his surgery, Rourke wouldn’t be reprising a role he played many years ago because he would look like a different person, and fans now believe ‘The Wrestler’ actor has snapped at Cruise because he was jealous.

Early in his career, Rourke was renowned for his good looks. With a downward slope of a voice, heavy eyelids and an angular, delicate face, he seemed to have a known cheekiness and magnetism that many could not resist.

However, in the ’90s, Rourke gave up acting in favor of boxing, and within just a few years the constant beatings to his face completely dismantled him. He broke his nose twice, broke his cheekbones, and damaged his ribs and toes.

Counselors told him to quit the sport or he would suffer permanent brain damage. Eventually, he quit boxing, but by then his face was not like it used to be. The soft femininity blurred by the rugged manhood was long gone, so he turned to quick surgical solutions to regain his once handsome face.

Unfortunately, the operations did not go as planned. The mess was obvious to all, as in several scenes in the erotic thriller “Wild Orchid,” where Rourke’s cheeks appeared noticeably swollen.

While many speculated it was the result of misplaced implants, Rourke denied the allegations saying it was the unexpected side effects of dental surgery. However, in 2009 he finally admitted that his changing appearance was the result of botched surgeries. Independent reports that he confessed:

“Most of the time it was to fix the mess in my face from boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to get my face done.”
