MIAMI – The Federal Bureau of Investigation has resumed an investigation into a reported kidnapping in southwest Miami-Dade.
Police said the call came in around 2:30 p.m. Thursday as Miami-Dade police responded to the 4700 block of SW 87th Place.
Authorities have confirmed that their investigation involves a woman and two children.
Shortly after 9 p.m., the woman and children were found safe and sound less than two miles from where they were allegedly abducted.
Now the FBI will investigate what happened.
Under the “Lindbergh Law,” the FBI has jurisdiction to investigate any reported mysterious disappearance or abduction involving a child. “There doesn’t have to be a ransom demand and the child must not cross state lines or go missing for 24 hours before the FBI gets involved.”
Footage from the scene showed part of the neighborhood circled with yellow tape.
There were also several police cars, as well as a police truck.
The investigation continued overnight.
