Italian luxury house FENDI unveiled its Spring/Summer 2023 womenswear collection, which combines minimalist ease with pop eclecticism, on Wednesday, September 21, during the ongoing Milan Fashion Week. The contemporary collection is inspired by the work of Karl Lagerfeld from 1996 to 2002. It is both sporty and delicate, effortless and refined. For the season, the designer Kim Jones offers its fresh perspective on elements of the past such as the floral print pulled from the brand’s archives and a logo first introduced in 2000, and reinvents them for today.
SPRING SUMMER 2023 COLLECTIONS
What particularly interests me about FENDI is exploring the notion of functional utility alongside femininity – because Fendi women are strong women with full lives. -Kim Jones
It’s about continuity, I’m interested in looking at the things Karl has done and seeing how we can develop them – both visually and technically. -Kim Jones
“A harmonious palette of neutrals is interrupted by bold pops of color: hot pink, cornflower blue and bright green appear boldly saturated. Organic textures – cashmere and fur, shearling and leather – materialize thanks to FENDI’s unequaled know-how, lighter than ever, and appear superimposed on technical fabrics. Sleek satin is hybridized with mesh and grounded by elevated tennis shoes or rubber platforms: FENDI’s inverted “F” appears for the first time as an illusory cantilever on footwear, in homage to alignment instinct of the form and function of the house.– from Fendi
At Fendi, everything comes from the conversation around the double F which makes us see things as a couple. Even the bags are part of a family: small and large. – Silvia Venturini Fendi
