Philippe Bas, Senator LR de la Manche spoke at the microphone of Europe 1 on the devices put in place by the government to limit inflation. The Quaestor of the Senate believes that we must “look at things structurally” to respond to the real problem of purchasing power.

“The real answer to purchasing power is the competitiveness of the economy”

“For a long time, French purchasing power has been significantly lower than German purchasing power,” says Phillipe Bas. “The real answer to purchasing power is the competitiveness of the French economy.” For the senator, this competitiveness is deteriorating. “Our prices are too high because France does not work enough and because the compulsory levies are too high”. He calls for correcting these elements, which, according to him, weaken purchasing power.

The senator calls for allowing the French, through their work, to gain purchasing power. “And not by energy checks, food and tomorrow Christmas checks, which create a form of addiction to public aid”, he affirms facing Thierry Dagiral on Europe 1. Phillipe Bas denounces the “height of social democracy”. For him, instead of taking from the rich to give to the poor, “we take from future generations for today’s generations”. It is an increase in the weight of the burdens of the French economy.

On the eve of the examination of the purchasing power law in the National Assembly, Senator LR also warns about the “ever higher” interest rates: “we will soon be paying for the debt service of the “French State more than for National Education”.

“We are not here to string pearls”

During his July 14 interview, President Emmanuel Macron once again adopted the pension reform. Gradually, the retirement age will be lowered to 65 years. Discussions will begin in September in Parliament, despite a criticized schedule, in full inflation. On the antenna of Europe 1, Philippe Bas salutes the necessary risks taken and assumed by the government: “If we do not reform, then it is not worth being President of the Republic. is not here to string pearls.”

The senator believes that reform can only be achieved through the concerted action of political forces. “It is not the National Rally or France Insoumise that will allow France to modernize”, explains the Republican.
