Georgian volunteers engaged with Ukrainian soldiers

As the invasion of Ukraine reignited fears of a Russian military operation directed against Georgia, members of the Georgian National Legion enlisted on the Eastern Front and helped train Ukrainian fighters. Report from our special correspondents Mélina Huet, Rob Parsons and Raïd Abu Zaideh.

In the first weeks after the Russian invasion, thousands of volunteers from all over the world traveled to Ukraine to help repel the Russian army. Among them, experienced soldiers from the Georgian National Legion, engaged since 2014 alongside kyiv in the Donbass. A knowledge of the terrain from which they benefit the Ukrainian soldiers.
