Honorable send-off: 3-year-old boy who drowned in Webster received a special send-off before his organs were donated

WEBSTER, Texas (KTRK) — The 3-year-old boy who drowned in a Webster apartment pool is saving lives through organ donation.

On Thursday, family and friends of Mars Bedellwas, along with HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake hospital staff, lined the halls to pay their respects to Mars for being an organ donor during his walk of honor.

On July 3, Mars was found floating in one of the Baystone apartment pools. The 3-year-old was pronounced dead on July 5 and his family made the difficult decision to donate his organs.

The nurses said they wanted to make the Mars Walk of Honor special by dressing up in masks and capes because her favorite toys were superheroes.

According to a hospital spokesperson, two children and two adults were able to receive organs from Mars.
