Houma man arrested for possessing too many sharks and meth at Oyster Bayou, LDWF says

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) — A Houma man has been arrested for allegedly catching too many sharks and having methamphetamine in his possession, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Officers say Anouda Lirette, 44, was arrested July 26 at Oyster Bayou, south of Lost Lake in Terrebonne Parish. Officials say he was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, as well as an undersized shark.

Officers reportedly saw Lirette throw another shark overboard because it exceeded the limit.

He was incarcerated in the parish prison of Terrebonne. He faces more than $5,500 in fines and two years in prison.
