Police are still looking for suspects in this case.
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Md. — A UPS driver was fatally shot in Prince George’s County on Monday morning and police are searching for the culprit.
Prince George’s County Police police were called to report a shooting in the Silver Hill Road and Terrace Drive area around 10 a.m. About half a mile near a hair salon in Suitland, officers found the worker shot and he was taken to hospital for treatment. injuries, which are not considered life threatening.
The barber shop owner, who did not want to be identified, told the WUSA9 reporter that the driver was a longtime customer who reflexively fled to the nearest location where he knew familiar faces and could find safety.
Investigators have not determined what led to the shooting. No arrests have been made and the police have given no information on any suspects in the case.
“You see these delivery guys running up and down the street, they’re working hard everyday, doing their thing trying to make a living and you’ve got someone who’s going to shoot them thinking they’ve got money on them or parcels or whatever,” says a neighbor. “It just doesn’t make sense.”
UPS spokeswoman Lizzy Crouse said the company was grateful the driver was okay.
“We are grateful that our driver is safe and we are cooperating with the authorities who responded to their investigation. Because this is an active investigation, we will defer to local authorities for any further comment,” a Crouse said in an emailed statement.
