Julia Garner has been approached to play Madonna in a planned biopic about the music legend. His team is evaluating and expected to accept the offer. After months of speculation, she emerged as the favorite among more than a dozen nominations.

The production schedule and other main cast members are still unknown. “The Falling” actress Florence Pugh, “Euphoria” star Alexa Demie and “Looking for Grace” actress Odessa Young were among the actors vying for the role, as previously reported.

Singers such as Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira were also mentioned. The audition procedure was complex because music production requires a skilled singer and dancer.

Julia, the second daughter of artistic and cultured parents, watched many great movies growing up in Riverdale, New York. She says:

“I used to watch with my parents, who were big movie fans.”

Looking back on her childhood, Julia revealed in an interview that it was “like a Noah Baumbach movie”. Born and raised in New York, Julia lived with her parents.

Her father, Thomas Garner, is “a WASP” from Shaker Heights, Ohio, and an elementary school art teacher. Her mother, Tami Gingold, became a therapist after moving to the United States.

Before moving, Julia’s mother was a famous actress and comedian in Israel in her twenties on the Israeli equivalent of “Saturday Night Live.” Their home is a full-fledged New York Jewish home.

Julia once described her parents as “very academic”, even though she didn’t like being in school. She described their home as being filled with books, rugs, philosophy, artwork, cacti, old electronics and a Matisse poster in a silver frame from the Metropolitan Museum.

The “Inventing Anna” actress also has a sister, Anna, who is three years older and works as a special education and English as a second language teacher at a Manhattan high school.

At 15, Julia started taking acting lessons as a hobby because she was shy and wanted to keep herself busy. However, she liked how it felt and decided to make a career out of it.

Julia recalled her mother’s reaction when she first informed her that she wanted to act professionally. Tami asked her daughter if she was sure because acting as a profession was difficult.

Julia’s family includes her husband, Mark Foster, the frontman of indie-pop band Foster The People. The couple first met in 2013 but started dating years later.

Eighteen months after they started dating, they got engaged, and on December 27, 2019, Julia and Foster tied the knot in a quiet ceremony.
