Kate Hudson and musician Chris Robinson have had a rollercoaster relationship over the years. Although their romance began as a perfect whirlwind romance, it ended in divorce, which stemmed from their toxic marriage.
Actress Kate Hudson met rocker Chris Robinson in May 2000 at a party in New York and fell passionately in love with him. Four days later, they move in together.
Hudson said it all fell into place when she first ran into the lead singer of rock band The Black Crowes.

Three months later, Hudson was spotted with a diamond ring, and she noted that they already considered themselves married, explaining that Robinson wanted to give her a symbol of commitment to each other.
The couple married on December 31, 2000 in a ceremony presided over by an Ute Indian shaman in Old Snowmass, Colorado. “We are totally committed to each other, and that will never change unless something horrible happens,” Hudson said at the time.
The businesswoman has had her fair share of relationship disasters, telling Cosmopolitan in October 2005 that even her friends predicted she would be the last to marry. When she finally met her prince charming at the age of 20, everything changed for her:
“It was so contrary to my personality to make this decision to fall deeply in love, get married and have children.”

Meanwhile, Robinson admitted that before meeting her, he had never been in love before. Recalling their first date, he said:
“I had never been in love before. We went to Central Park and we walked and talked all afternoon, and when she went to the bathroom, I thought, ‘Life will never be the same again. same. “”
Hudson said things happened in the blink of an eye between her and Robinson. They were attached at the hip and enjoyed being together.

However, because they have such demanding careers, at one point he would be on tour for over a year, and she had to pursue her acting career, which she found difficult.
But the starlet noted that it made their relationship exciting because she could still have her independence and they could still plan their professional lives around each other.

What looked like a fairy tale quickly turned into an uproar. Hudson revealed to People in 2003 that her marriage to Robinson was explosive from the start:
“At first we were so unstable. We were so in love and passionate, then we hated each other and threw stuff, then we were traveling to Paris for a week.”
When asked what drew her to the Georgia native, Hudson said Robinson was very defiant and rebellious when she met him, and she liked that about him. While she, on the other hand, is stubborn.

When the ‘Something Borrowed’ star became pregnant with the couple’s first child, she said she loved being pregnant, adding that it was “my favorite moment of my life.”
Hudson and Robinson’s only son, Ryder, was born in January 2004. His arrival somehow saved their marriage, with the new mom admitting to People:
“We share something so huge now. I think it’s the best we’ve ever felt to be together.”

Yet, the same year they welcomed their child, rumors started circulating that there were problems in heaven. However, they were quickly shot down by a family friend who told People that was far from the truth, stating that because the two had a true friendship as lovers, their love would withstand anything.
Even so, two years after their son “fixed” their rocky relationship, Hudson and Robinson’s marriage began to crumble. When asked if her husband had any pet peeves about her, the ‘Glee’ alum mentioned what she usually does that goes under Robinson’s skin, adding that her mother, Goldie Hawn, had does the same with his longtime love, Kurt Russell.

“I can sip the same cold cup of coffee all day. It drives him nuts,” Hudson revealed. She and Robinson announced their separation in August 2006. At the time, there was speculation that they were both unfaithful in their marriage, but they both denied it.
Robinson filed for divorce from Hudson in November 2006, after nearly six years of marriage. He cited “irreconcilable differences”. Their son Ryder was only two years old and both parties wanted joint custody and got it.

The exes had a prenup and Robinson did not seek spousal support. Their divorce was amicable and they remained close, the Satellite Award winner told the Daily Mail in 2008:
“Chris and I divorced for the right reasons – we just haven’t worked. But we remain extremely close.”
ROBINSON UNEXPECTEDLY CHALLENGED CUSTODY AGREEMENT
While the former couple parted ways without drama, that quickly changed when Robinson changed his mind about custody of their child.
The two were happy to co-parent Ryder, but Robinson was shocked ten years after the divorce and custody agreement when he reopened the custody agreement in 2017. Ryder was 12 at the time.
Documents filed in the California Superior Court named Robinson as the petitioner while Hudson was the defendant.
The couple agreed to have an assessor appointed by the court to conduct a custody assessment and then write a report and make recommendations for parenting planning that would include physical and legal custody of him.
The duo also agreed that the evaluator would have access to medical records during the process, including access to employment, education, and other similar records for both. Hudson and Robinson also had to undergo drug, alcohol and psychological tests, including their son.
The court required Hudson to pay $7,500 for the appraisal within five days of signing the agreement. Robinson wanted sole custody and a report emerged that his ex-wife believed he did it for the money.

Despite all the hardships, Hudson and Robinson came together to support their son Ryder, already 18, when he graduated from high school in June 2022.
The proud mum paid tribute to her firstborn on Instagram, writing a lengthy post, saying he is an “incredible young man” who is “loving and kind”. The mum-of-three said raising Ryder has been the greatest gift and pleasure of her life, adding:
“Letting your babies fly isn’t easy, but let the children fly!” »
She posted images of him wearing his graduation badges alongside his half-siblings, Rani, whom she shares with her fiancé Danny Fujikawa and Bingham, her son from a previous relationship with the ex-fiance Matt Bellamy.
Another photo showed Ryder posing between his parents, brimming with pride, while holding his diploma from Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica, California. While Hudson rarely talks about her first marriage, it seems she and Robinson made co-parenting a success.
Their son turned 18 in January and is dating actress Iris Apatow, the youngest daughter of director Judd Apatow and actress Leslie Mann. The young couple celebrated their anniversary in April 2022 after publicly debuting their relationship in February 2022.
