Lana Del Rey and Jack Donoghue Are ‘Kim & Pete’ for the Hipster Set

Let Miss Americana herself, Lana Del Rey, kick off a rocky relationship outside a Chicago jail. Pictures of the Honeymoon The singer in a relationship with Jack Donoghue, who is said to have been dating throughout the summer, appeared on the latter’s Instagram account this week. The revelation surely led anyone with an active Tumblr account in the early 2000s to emit some sort of uncontrollable sound. While not quite a household name like Del Rey, Donoghue is particularly infamous in some circles as the lead singer of the pioneering witch house band Salem.

Del Rey was last publicly linked to retired police officer and TV host Sean Larkin in 2020, and rumors that she had struck up a tie with Donoghue began circulating in late May.

Donoghue was previously linked to none other than Courtney Love (the pair walked the amFAR gala red carpet hand-in-hand in 2011). He is also a longtime friend of Julia Fox, NYC’s “It girl”. Their relationship dates back to years before Fox’s brief fling with Kanye West. Donoghue also has artists like Wolfgang Tillmans and Jeanette Hayes in his circle. However, the internet is also littered with photos of Donoghue kissing guys. Donoghue has never spoken publicly about his orientation, so we’ll defer to Out magazine which headlined “Lana Del Rey’s boyfriend kissed men and biphobic fans are losing him”.

Still, the alleged coupling makes a lot of sense. They’re both musicians who first found favor among millennial hyper-online hipsters, and they both have similar “don’t care” attitudes. It’s kind of perfect.

The relationship is probably not the one you regularly find on the pages of We Weekly, but we’re sure he’ll hold a special place in some circles. Parts of Twitter are already losing it.

With the revival of Indie Sleaze failing to materialize as expected, people who actively wore American Apparel skinny pants in 2011 were in desperate need of a win. Or at least a diversion. It’s here.
