The very first international phygital tournament will take place in the Russian city of Kazan next February

A countdown ceremony to mark 300 days until the start of the next Future Games phygital tournament was held in Moscow and the Russian city of Kazan on Saturday. The very first international games of this type will take place from February 23 to March 3, 2024.

The ceremony was attended by several high-level personalities, including Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Rustam Minnikhanov, the leader of Tatarstan, and others. Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the ceremony via video message, calling the upcoming games a “a unique event that has never happened before.”

“The Games of the Future will combine esports and conventional sports, video games, virtual and augmented reality tournaments, as well as traditional football, basketball, hockey and MMA matches, all on a single platform”, says Putin.

The event is expected to bring together participants from more than 100 countries around the world, of which more than 50 have already confirmed their participation, Chernyshenko told Russian media earlier today.

“We still have a lot of work to do, but we are already seeing huge interest from around the world,” he noted.
