Dozens of people are believed to have died in Afghanistan after an explosion during evening prayers
A large explosion that ripped through a Kabul mosque during evening prayers reportedly left dozens dead and injured.
The explosion occurred on Wednesday inside a mosque in a northern district of Kabul. A hospital run by the charity Emergency NGO said he had received 27 victims, including five children. A Taliban intelligence official told Reuters that up to 35 people had been injured or killed, and the toll could rise further.
Various other media reports have reported 20, 30 or more deaths. Al Jazeera quoted an unidentified official as saying at least 20 people had died. The mosque’s imam was reportedly among those killed.
