A superb unbeaten opening partnership between Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan saw Pakistan pull off a remarkable chase to beat England by 10 wickets and level their T20I series at 1-1.

Pakistani captain Babar hit 110 from 66 balls, with opening partner Rizwan finishing on 88 from 51 deliveries as the hosts chased a target of 200 with three spare balls in Karachi.

England looked to be in a hugely strong position after captain Moeen Ali’s unbeaten 55 helped his side to a 199-5 scoreline after winning the coin toss and opting to strike, on a surface both skippers said was s expect to favor the bowlers.

The partnership between Babar and Rizwan was the highest of any pursuit effort in the men’s T20 internationals, extending their previous record of 197 against South Africa in 2021. A seventh-century stance between the pair also saw them seen extending their record for the most between two batters. in the T20I.

Babar’s century, which saw him hit 11 fours and top fives, made him the first Pakistani striker to score two centuries in the T20 internationals.

Pakistan’s remarkable batting performance helped the home side level the seven-game series, with the teams due to meet just 24 hours later for their third meeting on the same ground on Friday.
