Some gossip to end your year: After weeks of rumors and a stint on the field at a Knicks game, the budding romance between Pete Davidson and Emily Ratajkowski is said to be over. Like their courtship, this news is both startling and completely unsurprising.

“Their fling moved into the friend zone,” a source says page 6. The source also said it was “suitable for both of them.” And that’s fine with me too, in case anyone is wondering.

The short-lived romance began with rumors in early November. A source “close to Davidson” confirmed the rumor to People after speculation around the two began to brew over the weekend.

In November, celebrity gossip account TwoMe posted an anonymous tip from one of its followers who claimed to have seen Davidson and Ratajkowski on a date in Brooklyn. “EMRATA AND PETE DAVIDSON ON A DATE IN BROOKLYN TOGETHER. HOLDING HANDS AND ALLLL,” the comment said in all caps. The source added: “Her hands were all over her and they are clearly connecting.”

All of this gossip went mostly unverified for weeks until Davidson and Ratajkowski confirmed the IRL rumors by attending a Knicks game together in New York’s Madison Square Garden over Thanksgiving weekend.

The pseudo-couple sat between Ben Stiller and Jordin Sparks, who were probably just as surprised to see Pete Davidson and Emily Ratajkowski there as anyone else. According to Entertainment tonight, the relationship was very occasional, and they basically used themselves as very public bouncers. In August, Kim Kardashian broke up with Davidson while EmRata ended her marriage to Sebastian Bear-McClard over the summer.
