Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the owner of three dogs who allegedly attacked an 18-pound Cockapoo in the Lynn Woods Playground and softball field area earlier this week.
A longtime Lynn resident told police she was walking her dog around 8:15 a.m. Sunday when she saw a white male with three rampaging pit bulls enter the softball field area from Great Woods Road.
“Without provocation, the pit bulls attacked the Cockapoo, seriously injuring him,” Lynn police wrote in a statement posted to the department’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
“The alleged owner of the pit bulls then took control of them and was last seen walking with them towards the road behind the softball field on the right and into the woods,” police wrote.
The Cockapoo suffered more than 25 bites, resulting in serious injuries and large veterinary bills, police said.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man, who has been described as “hefty with disheveled facial hair and wearing a baseball cap”.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lynn Animal Control Officer JR Plourde at 781-477-4385 or [email protected]
