Priyank Panchal hammers 257*; Mumbai-Saurashtra and Hyderabad-Assam matches head to tense end

Gujarat skipper Priyank Panchal hit a brilliant 257* as his side continued their dominance over Chandigarh in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match in Ahmedabad on Thursday, December 29. Panchal hit 22 fours and two sixes in his shot as Gujarat declared their first innings at 596/4d, responding to Chandigarh’s 304. Chandigarh was 46/2 at Stumps on Day 3.

In a 2022-23 Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match at Sovima, Bengal beat Nagaland by one set and 161 runs. Karan Lal claimed 5/47 as Nagaland were grouped for 123 in 45.3 overs in their second innings.

In another contest from the same group, Baroda needs 115 runs to win against UP with six wickets in hand. Ninad Rathva followed his first innings 102 with a five-wicket haul as UP were consolidated for 177 in his second innings.

Two matches in the Elite B group of the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy are heading for tense outcomes. Hyderabad need 22 runs against Assam but have just one wicket in hand. Their hopes rest on captain Tanmay Agarwal, undefeated in 123.

Mumbai needs 62 runs to beat Saurashtra but has only two wickets standing. The versatile Shams Mulani, who won 6/65 in round two, was undefeated on 30 at stumps.
