MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – A bizarre find at a Meridian restaurant has sparked a lot of internet interest. It was an orange lobster at Red Lobster.
“I knew pretty quickly they were coming and they were definitely interested,” said Red Lobster general manager Barbie Buckalew.
Red Lobster housed an orange lobster. The discovery of one in 30 million people happened at Meridian last month.
“When I arrived that Saturday, I had only been there about five minutes when the crew stopped me and said, ‘did you see the orange lobster?’ I jumped up and ran forward to see Biscuit and there she was,” Buckalew explained.
Buckalew said she immediately sent a photo to her manager who then put her in touch with Ripley’s corporate office and aquarium in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
“We didn’t tell a lot of people about her because we wanted her to be safe. The only place we could keep her was here in the lobby,” Buckalew said. “There were many guests over a two week period that Biscuit stayed at our restaurant.”
Just before Biscuit, another orange lobster named Cheddar was found in Florida. Red Lobster confirmed that the two were caught in the same fishing area. Buckalew said she was grateful to her crew and how they handled the situation.
“They all had to be very conscious not to hurt that lobster because it’s really important,” Buckalew said. “To keep her here safe for almost two weeks, I’m very proud of them for making sure that happens.”
