Ricky Martin denies any relationship with his nephew – NBC Chicago

Ricky Martin denies allegations that he had a romantic relationship with his nephew.

In a statement to TODAY, Martin’s attorney, Marty Singer, said: ‘Sadly the person who made this claim is struggling with serious mental health issues. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been – and never would be – involved in a sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.

“The idea is not only wrong, it’s disgusting,” he continued. “We all hope this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, above all, we look forward to seeing this terrible case thrown out as soon as a judge can examine the facts.

Martin’s attorney spoke to TODAY after rumors began circulating online on Friday. Singer did not identify Martin’s nephew by name and it was not immediately clear if the nephew had legal representation.

The statement from Martin’s attorney and the new allegation against him comes just a week after a judge in Puerto Rico issued a restraining order against the singer.

A police spokesperson named Axel Valencia previously told The Associated Press that he could not share details of who applied for the restraining order because it was filed under the Violence Act. domestic from Puerto Rico.

TODAY did not obtain a copy of the restraining order and local police did not respond to our request for comment.

The spokesperson told the AP that the restraining order prevents the musician from contacting the person who requested it, adding that a judge will decide in a hearing whether the order should be lifted.

In a statement shared with TODAY on Sunday, July 3, Martin’s reps said, “The allegations against Ricky Martin that led to a protective order are completely false and fabricated. We are very confident that when the true facts are revealed in this case, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.

Moreover, in its own shared statement on TwitterMartin added: “The order of protection issued against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond throughout the legal process with the facts and the dignity that characterizes me. As this is a case pending, I cannot make any statements at this time. I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity, and I receive them with all my heart.

According to TMZ, Martin’s court date for the restraining order is scheduled for July 21.
