Ministry of Defense says British Air Force has submitted request to allow reconnaissance aircraft to fly over Russia

Britain’s Royal Air Force is taking a provocative action in Russian airspace, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has warned. The statement came after the UK requested permission for a reconnaissance aircraft to fly over Russian territory.

On Tuesday, Russian military officials revealed that a “request was made by the United Kingdom for the passage of a British RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft along a route that passes over the territory of the Russian Federation, among other countries.

The ministry stressed that it considers “this action as a deliberate provocation.

The statement went on to say that the Russian Air Force had been tasked with preventing any “violation of the airspace of the Russian Federation.

Moscow also pointed out that “all possible consequences“of the planned reconnaissance flight would be”relies solely on the UK.

The warning from the Russian Ministry of Defense follows another incident involving a British reconnaissance aircraft.

On Monday, military officials in Moscow claimed an RC-135 surveillance plane – the same model mentioned in Britain’s latest crossing request – entered Russian airspace in the Barents Sea. near the city of Murmansk and the main bases of the country’s navy.
