Tom Brady: “I’m going to take my time” before deciding to retire

That’s a question we keep asking 45-year-old Tom Brady.

In February, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Brady announced he was retiring from the NFL.

His decision proved short-lived and a few weeks later the seven-time Super Bowl champion had a change of heart and returned for his 23rd season in the NFL.

Speaking to sports commentator Jim Gray during his weekly podcast appearance, Brady was jokingly asked if he would retire, then retire if tight end Rob Gronkowski – who retired twice from the NFL – was retiring again.

“Well, I think the next time I decide to retire, that’s it for me,” Brady said with a laugh on their “Let’s Go!” podcast, which was released on Monday. “So whenever that day comes, we’ll find out.”

Gray put the joke aside and went on to ask if Brady could really consider retiring at this point.

“I really don’t know,” replied the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback. “I think what I’ve really realized…is that you have to be really sure to do it.

And for me, you know, a lot of people have kind of been through that…I’m going to take my time whenever that time comes.

Brady and the Buccaneers now face the Carolina Panthers on New Years Day.

On Christmas Day, Brady helped keep the Bucs in playoff position with a 19-16 overtime win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Brady threw two interceptions and just one touchdown as the Bucs defense managed to hold the Cardinals at bay, with Ryan Succup’s fourth field goal of the game sealing the victory.
