Kawhi Leonard missed all of last season after sustaining an ACL injury in the 2021 playoffs. The Los Angeles Clippers forward appeared to be making solid progress in his recovery late last year, but a new citation of his trainer is at least a little disturbing.
In an interview with Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints, Tyronn Lue differed when asked if Leonard would be ready to play for the start of the regular season.
“I don’t know,” laughed Lue when asked about Leonard’s status.
Lue could deviate or give himself some wiggle room here, but it’s a little worrying if Leonard won’t be ready to play at all after roughly a year and a half out. It’s also possible the Clippers are being rather very cautious with their franchise forward, knowing the goal is to find playoff success more than anything else.
Leonard certainly looked fine the last time we saw him. You would think he must be close to Game 1, although the Clippers will likely be watching his workload carefully.
