Viola Davis Set to Play Villain in ‘Hunger Games’ Prequel

The film’s official Instagram broke the news on Monday. The Oscar-winning actor will play Dr. Volumnia Gaul, the chief ringmaster of the 10th annual Hunger Games.

The prequel cast also includes Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth as young Coriolanus Snow, Jason Schwartzman, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, and Josh Andrés Rivera.

The film will follow Suzanne Collins’ 2020 novel “Songbirds and Snakes” and will focus on the story of Lucy Gray Baird, a District 12 tribute to the 10th annual Hunger Games, where children fight to the death in front of an audience.

Director Francis Lawrence spoke of Davis’ character to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “Dr. to his experiences with her as the most imposing figure in the games.”
