WFAN has squarely beaten ESPN New York in the fall ratings book as major changes loom on this latest radio station.

In the most hotly contested afternoon matchup between the two networks in recent years, WFAN’s “Carton & Roberts” featuring Craig Carton and Evan Roberts ranked second in the market with a share. 7.5 among males 25-54 – the demographic at which sports radio listeners are marketed to advertisers – while ESPN’s “The Michael Kay Show” with Kay, Don La Greca and Peter Rosenberg s is ranked 14th with a share of 2.9. These ratings are from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., when the two shows overlap.

WFAN’s “Boomer & Gio” featuring Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti finished top of the market with a 9.7 share in the 6-10 AM drive, while ESPN New York’s combination of “DiPietro & Rothenberg” with Rick DiPietro and Dave Rothenberg and “Keyshawn, JWill and Max” with Keyshawn Johnson, Jay Williams and Max Kellerman finished No. 15 with a 2.5 share.

From the 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. broadcast time slot of “DiPietro and Rothenberg,” ESPN New York ranked eighth with a 4.2 share. Although ESPN New York doesn’t beat WFAN in this time slot, it’s clear that their viewership drops as they move from local to national.

Therefore, as The Post reported earlier this month, ESPN New York is moving to mostly local programming. “Keyshawn, JWill and Max” will be out of the lineup and “DiPietro and Rothenberg” will air from 6-10 a.m.

Elsewhere in the day, WFAN’s “Tiki & Tierney” featuring Tiki Barber and Brandon Tierney ranked third in the market with a 6.4 share from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. against Mike Greenberg’s ESPN New York Combination followed by Bart Scott and Alan Hahn who finished 14th at 10-2 with a 2.4 share.

“Bart & Hahn” aired as a national show on ESPN Radio but will return locally on ESPN New York in the new year; it will be replaced nationally by a show hosted by Jason Fitz and Harry Douglas.

WFAN is owned by Audacy while ESPN New York is operated by Good Karma Brands.
