Where are Jenna Ortega’s parents from?

“Jane the Virgin” actress Jenna Ortega is proud of her heritage and feels a strong connection to her grandfather, the only artist in her family besides her.

Jenna Ortega’s promising career made headlines in early June 2022 after Netflix released the first trailer for “Wednesday,” Tim Burton’s Addams Family series starring Ortega as Wednesday Addams.

The footage showed Ortega portraying the main character, but Thing also made a brief appearance. Written by “Smallville” creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, “Wednesday” will follow Gomez and Morticia’s daughter during her years at Nevermore Academy. Born in September 2002 in Coachella Valley, California, Ortega has been active in the entertainment industry since she was just a child. Although she is still young, she has already worked for major film companies, including Netflix and Disney.

In addition to portraying the younger version of Jane Villanueva on “Jane the Virgin” from 2014 to 2019, Ortega also had a starring role on Disney Channel’s “Stuck in the Middle.”

In 2020, Ortega made headlines after being cast in the second season of the hit Netflix series “You.” She also became one of Neutrogena’s brand ambassadors like Nicole Kidman, Kerry Washington, and Jennifer Garner.

Many fans see Ortega as a rising scream queen, as she’s had roles in a few horror movies, including “Insidious: Chapter 2,” “Scream 5,” and “X.” We can’t wait to see her work with Tim Burton on “Wednesday.”

Ortega’s acting skills are exceptional, but she probably couldn’t have risen to fame if not for the decisions her parents and family made decades ago. Although she was born in America, she is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent.

Her maternal great-grandmother lived on a small ranch near Sinaloa, Mexico with her four daughters, but she moved with her children to the United States as an illegal immigrant to give them better opportunities.

She sent her four daughters to English-speaking schools and made them speak only English to avoid attracting attention and being expelled. Ortega’s maternal grandfather is also Latino.

[Ortega’s] family has kept their Mexican traditions alive.

He was born in Puerto Rico, moved to New York with his family as a baby, and settled in California during his high school days. He was the only entertainer in the family and Ortega believes she inherited the acting bug from him.

Although Ortega’s father is 100% Mexican, he does not know what part of Mexico his family is from as they moved to the United States before he was born.

It’s key to point out that not everyone in Ortega’s family is fluent in Spanish. His mother teaches and teaches Ortega, his five siblings and his father for years.

While Ortega has always lived in the United States, his family has maintained their Mexican traditions. Besides having piñatas for their birthdays, they frequently play soccer and are “very competitive”.

Food is also a crucial aspect of the Ortegas. They ate beans, rice, guacamole, tamales and other Mexican dishes, and one of Ortega’s aunts taught him Mexican recipes in Spanish. What a lovely family!
